Surviving

Animals in different kinds of environment all over the world are trying their best to survive. To survive means to stay alive. In order to survive, animals must do things like find food and avoid predators. A predator is an animal that hunts and eats other animals.

Animals have different features that help them survive. Many animals have eyes that they use to see what is happening around them. Ears help animals hear sounds. Many animals have teeth to help them eat. Many animals have legs or wings that they use to move around to find food or to escape predators. Some animals have claws to help them catch prey. Plants are also trying to survive. They have features that help them survive. Most plants have leaves that they use to help them make their own food. They have roots that absorb water and nutrients that they need. Roots also hold them firmly in the soil. Some plants bear flowers which help them make more of their own kind.
